Which birth control is right for me?

Take Daily

The pill

The pill is taken once daily and is one of the most widely used birth control options. You can choose from progesterone-only pills, combination pills (dual hormone), triphasic options, or low-dose formulations, depending on your needs and health history. It’s easy to start, easy to stop, and offers strong protection when taken consistently.

Change weekly

The patch

The patch is changed weekly. It delivers hormones through your skin to prevent pregnancy and only needs weekly attention. This is a good option if daily pills aren’t your thing. It’s discreet, effective, and easy to use. Just stick it on your skin and let it work for you.

Get the patch

Change monthly

The ring

The ring is changed once a month. It steadily releases hormones and stays in place during daily activities, including exercise or sex. This method is low-maintenance and convenient for those who want a “set it and forget it” approach. It’s a great fit if you want reliable coverage without daily or weekly upkeep.

GREAT EXPERIENCE
I came across Admired while looking for a virtual visit because I did not feel well enough to go out. They were amazing. I answered a few questions about what was going on with me and my pertinent medical history and was done in under 10 minutes. Shortly thereafter, less than 20 minutes later, I received an email stating everything had been reviewed and my scripts had been sent to the pharmacy. I am VERY grateful to Admired for being there for me and making this so easy and completely stress-free.

Thankful to find help from a Healthcare professional at midnight who wrote prescriptions I was able to have picked up the next morning. I didn't have to leave my house in the rain or even get dressed when I felt badly, much less sit in a waiting room for an hour which the usual scenario. I was on the mend within hours of my first dose of antibiotics. Thank You.

How effective are birth control pills and patches at preventing pregnancy?

With perfect use, both the pill and the patch are over 99% effective. In real life, where doses may occasionally be missed or delayed, they’re about 91% effective. Things like missing pills, not changing the patch on time, vomiting, or taking certain medications (like antibiotics, anti-seizure drugs, or St. John’s wort) can reduce their effectiveness. Staying consistent and checking with your provider about any medications you take helps keep protection high.

How do I get started on the pill or patch? Do I need to wait for my period?

You don’t have to wait for your period to start the pill or patch; you can begin at any time. However, if you start within the first 5 days of your period, you're protected right away. If you start at any other time in your cycle, you’ll need to use backup contraception, like condoms, for the first 7 days. Your provider can help you choose the best start date based on your cycle and needs.

Can birth control pills or the patch cause weight gain or infertility?

There’s little evidence that the pill or the patch causes significant weight gain for most people. Some may notice slight changes due to fluid retention, but it’s usually temporary. As for fertility, it typically returns quickly once you stop either method, often within a few weeks. Neither option has been shown to cause long-term issues with getting pregnant.

What do I do if I forget to take a pill or change the patch on time?

If you forget to take a pill, take it as soon as you remember. If you’ve missed more than one pill or missed a pill during the first week of your pack, use backup contraception for 7 days. For the patch, if it’s been off for more than 48 hours or you apply a new one late, you should also use backup protection for 7 days. When in doubt, check the instructions that come with your method or reach out to your provider for guidance.

How to treat hormonal acne with birth control?

Certain birth control pills can help treat hormonal acne by regulating hormones that trigger breakouts. Pills containing both estrogen and progestin are most commonly used for this purpose. They can reduce oil production, prevent new pimples, and improve skin over time, usually requiring at least a few months of use. A healthcare provider can help you choose the right pill for acne and monitor your progress safely.

How to treat hormonal acne with birth control?
Erectile dysfunction (ED), also referred to as impotence, is when you are either unable to attain firmness or unable to keep firmness long enough to have intercourse.

Start your free consultation today with a U.S.-licensed medical provider (link) and skip the awkward conversations and waiting rooms.
What's the best form of birth control?

The “best” birth control depends on your lifestyle, health, and personal preferences. Pills, patches, and rings are all highly effective when used correctly, so the right choice is the one that fits your routine, comfort, and goals. A healthcare provider can help you find the method that works best for you.

What is the biggest side effect of the birth control pill?
The most common side effects of the birth control pill are mild and often improve over time, including nausea, breast tenderness, or spotting between periods. Serious side effects are rare but can include blood clots, especially in people who smoke or have certain health conditions. A healthcare provider can help you weigh the risks and find the safest option for you.
Is the pill bad for you long term?
For most healthy people, the birth control pill is safe for long-term use. It may even offer benefits like lighter periods, reduced cramps, and lower risk of certain cancers. Serious risks, like blood clots, are rare and depend on individual health factors. A healthcare provider can help determine if it’s a safe option for you long-term.
Does birth control mess up your hormones?

Birth control changes hormone levels to prevent pregnancy, but it doesn’t cause permanent harm. Most people’s natural hormones return to normal after stopping. Choosing the right method with a healthcare provider can help you feel comfortable and supported.

At what age should you stop taking birth control?

You can continue using birth control as long as you need it and it’s safe for your health. Many people use it until menopause, but some risks like blood clots and high blood pressure can increase with age, especially for those over 35 who smoke or have certain health conditions. A healthcare provider can help determine the safest option and the right time to stop.

Who will be assisting me with my treatment?

A real U.S.-licensed healthcare provider closely evaluates your medical history and current symptoms to determine the status of your requested treatment.

Will insurance cover any prescriptions for Admired?
